CHICO — Chico’s newest workout option opened earlier this week as Planet Fitness.
Under general manager Jon Werner, Planet Fitness is at the former Chico Mall, now known as Chico Marketplace, 1950 East 20th Street.
The gym settled into the area that formerly held the food court, and has entrances from inside and outside the mall.
According to a statement, the gym will be open 24-hours a day Monday through Friday, and on the weekend 7 a.m. to 7 pm. A grand opening event is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
Planet Fitness is one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisor and operators of fitness centers in America, according to the statement.
The gym offers several membership deals that expire in mid July, although traditional membership programs will be available after that.
Certified trainers are on staff.
According to its website, the gym offers brand name cardio and strength equipment, fully equipped locker rooms, fitness classes and more.
Based in Hampton, N.H., the company has more than 2,000 locations. Last year it was named to Fortune magazine’s 100 fastest-growing companies list and Forbes’ 2019 list of America’s best franchises, among other recognitions.
