The destruction and power outages left in the wake of tropical storm Isaias has resulted in closures of business and municipal buildings.
The following is a list of what’s open and closed in the greater Danbury area:
Bethel
Town hall is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday for charging electronic devices. It will also be open during those hours Friday. Social distancing and masks are required.
Caraluzzi’s Market on Greenwood Avenue and Big Y on Stony Hill Road are both open, as well as most gas stations and many restaurants and delis, according to First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker.
Bridgewater
Town hall will be closed Thursday and possibly Friday, First Selectman Curtis Read announced Thursday morning.
The Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department has non-potable water for flushing toilets available at the front door of its station on Main Street. Residents will need to bring their own containers to fill.
Brookfield
Town hall is closed due to lack of power.
Costco on Federal Road is open.
Bagelman in the Candlewood Lake Plaza is open.
Danbury
Danbury City Hall was already closed to the public due to COVID-19.
CTown Supermarkets on North Street is open.
ShopRite in the North Street Shopping Center is open.
Stew Leonard’s on Federal Road is open.
Stop & Shop on Lake Avenue Extension is open.
Stop & Shop on Newtown Road is open.
Kent
Town hall was already closed to the public due to COVID-19.
Davis IGA at 27 Kent Green Blvd. is open.
Bull’s Bridge Country Store at 337 Kent Road could not be reached by phone, but its Facebook page said the store had power and would be opening at 5 a.m. Thursday.
New Fairfield
Town hall is closed due to lack of power.
The New Fairfield Food Center on Brush Hill Road is closed due to lack of power.
Stop & Shop on Route 39 is open but running on a generator, so only non-perishable items are being sold.
New Milford
Town hall has power and is still open to the public by appointment only.
Northville Market on Litchfield Road is open.
Stop & Shop on Danbury Road is open.
Big Y on Kent Road is open.
Midway Market & Deli on Park Lane Road is open, but won’t be serving deli sandwiches until later. “We have to prep everything back to normal,” an employee said Thursday morning.
Newtown
The Newtown General Store on Main Street is open.
Caraluzzi’s Market on Queen Street opened at noon and will remain open until 9 p.m.
Stop & Shop in the Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street is open.
Redding
Town hall is without power.
Ridgefield
The transfer station is open as of 11:15 a.m. Thursday.
Ridgefield Library has contactless materials pickup available until 1 p.m. Thursday, and express library services from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Stop & Shop in the Copps Hill Plaza on Danbury Road is fully powered and open, according to Ridgefield Emergency Management’s Facebook page.
Sherman
Sherman Library is without power and will remain closed until power is restored, according to its Facebook page.
Southbury
The transfer station is open regular hours. First Selectman Jeff Manville has decided to waive transfer station fees for brush and tree limbs that are six inches or less in diameter.
