Rumor: Werder Bremen open to selling Josh Sargent this summer - Stars and Stripes FC

The financial hardships caused by the coronavirus pandemic could lead to Josh Sargent’s departure from Werder Bremen when the transfer window opens this summer.

The USMNT forward is one of a few valuable commodities owned by Bremen that they will be looking to offload to generate some much-needed revenue for the club, according to a report from ESPNFC.

Even with the threat of relegation still hanging over them, Bremen are open to listening to offers for their sellable players, with Sargent being high on the list. The 21-year-old striker is seemingly ready to move on from his current club, as well, to take the next step in his career. According to the report, Sargent hopes to stay in the Bundesliga and move to a club higher up in the table. Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Monchengladbach, VfB Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen are some of the clubs listed as possible destinations for the St. Louis native.

Sargent joined Bremen in 2018 and has scored a respectable 11 career Bundesliga goals in 69 appearances for a predominantly disappointing side.

Where would you like to see Sargent land if he departs Bremen this summer?
