JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sun-Ray Cinemas is working to open a permanent drive-in movie theater in Jacksonville.
According to a news release, Sun-Ray is under contract with the owners of 859-869 Willow Branch Avenue to open the location.
The co-owners -- Tim Massett and Shana David-Massett -- have operated the two screen theater in Five Points for nine years.
The cinema says in the first phase, about 1/3 of the five parcel property will be converted into an outdoor auditorium. It will include a screen measuring 50-feet and a concession trailer.
The lot will park approximately 65 cars per show in phase one.
The first screenings at Sun-Ray’s foremost drive-in will be Friday and Saturday, with additional screenings to be added as new releases are available.
