The second day’s play of the CIB PSA Black Ball Open takes place today, as the seeded players get their campaigns underway at the Black Ball Sporting Club in Cairo.
The top 16 players will begin their runs at the Platinum level event in the second round, with those matches split over the next two days, and all the action takes place on the glass court.
Both champions from 2020, Hania El Hammamy and Sarah-Jane Perry, will be in action in the late session. The former will take on Scotland’s Lisa Aitken, while defending champion Perry will do battle with Egypt’s Mariam Metwally.
World No.1 Nour El Sherbini will play in the final match of the evening, up against USA’s Sabrina Sobhy. Elsewhere the Egyptian duo of Yathreb Adel and Nadine Shahin will play off for a place in the last 16, while Belgium’s Tinne Gilis and Welshwoman Emily Whitlock will do battle in an all-European battle.
After securing a shock win over the World No.19, Hana Ramadan will face Indian No.1 Joshna Chinappa. New Zealand’s Joelle King will take on Canada’s Danielle Letourneau and two winners from yesterday, Olivia Fiechter and Melissa Alves, will play for a place in the last 16.
