Veterans affairs officials say cemeteries are open, they will continue to provide interments for veterans and eligible individuals and COVID-19 guidelines are in place.
Sacramento Valley National Cemetery officials say all attendees and visitors must wear masks while on the grounds.
Immediate family members and guests are limited to 15 individuals of the deceased during a committal service and all will be kept a safe distance from interment operations. More than 15 family or guests will not be allowed or the service will be rescheduled or canceled. Clergy, military honors team members and funeral home do not count as family members.
Those families choosing to continue with interment may schedule a committal service at a later date. Those families wishing to postpone an already scheduled interment should contact the cemetery as soon as possible to convey their wishes.
Committal services and the rendering of military funeral honors, whether by military personnel or volunteer organizations, are available. Availability of rifle volley teams is limited.
Up to three floral arrangements accompanying the casket or urn at the time of burial will be placed on the grave. Natural, fresh cut flowers may be placed on graves at any time of year.
To schedule a burial, call 800-535-1117. Visitors should expect that certain portions of a cemetery typically open to the public may be closed.
