Ascena Retail Group will close at least two Fox River Mall stores under its bankruptcy filing announced Thursday morning.

Catherines, a plus-size store, will close in the strip mall on mall property, west of the main building.

UPDATED: Justice, a tween store in the mall, will also close, according to court filings. Justice's store in the Outlet Shoppes in Oshkosh will also close.

Ascena is the parent company of 2,800 women's and children's clothing stores, and its stores here include Catherines and Justice stores plus Lane Bryant and Loft.

It closed its Ann Taylor store inside the mall and Dress Barn store nearby in early 2019.

The company has previously struggled with debt and lowered sales in stores, and its Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection filing was "spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic," according to a story in USA TODAY.

It will close all of its Catherines stores, a chain of plus-size women's clothing shops.

The company will also close an undetermined number of additional stores, including a "significant number" of Loft and Lane Bryant stores, it said in a release.
