Remember to bring your mask, keep your distance on open space trails
As the director of Boulder County Parks & Open Space, and on behalf of the rangers and all our staff, I’d like to thank the members of the public who have been visiting our trails and complying with the safeguards we’ve put in place to protect all visitors during the pandemic. On a recent hike at Ron Stewart Preserve at Rabbit Mountain, I was really pleased to see everyone wearing masks or pulling them up as they passed by. Everyone was courteous and cheerful, and I saw lots of dogs on leashes! I’ve heard similar reports about parks throughout the county.
As we move into late fall and winter, and as COVID-19 cases continue to rise, safely gathering will be more challenging. Wearing masks and social distancing are as important as ever. We’d like to remind residents that a brisk hike on open space on a sunny winter day can do wonders to brighten your day as we become even more isolated without the option of indoor gatherings.
Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and we welcome you all to take advantage of the parks and trails Boulder County Parks & Open Space has to offer to alleviate the mental and physical stress we’re all experiencing. Some of the best places with lots of sun include Ron Stewart Preserve at Rabbit Mountain, Hall Ranch, Pella Crossing, Lagerman Preserve, and Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm.
Please remember to bring a mask to put on while passing others on the trail and keep a 6-foot distance between you and other visitors. All of our trails are listed at boco.org/trails — find one near you! And keep up the great work keeping our staff and your neighbors safe by wearing your mask!
