You had us at hushpuppies. Rec’s Hushpuppie Heaven, specializing in gourmet hushpuppies and catered meals, opened its Pflugerville storefront Oct. 24. Read on to learn more about what flavors are offered, as well as three other business and city news updates.

NOW OPEN | Rec’s Hushpuppie Heaven

Rec’s Hushpuppie Heaven celebrated the grand opening of its storefront at 200 E. Pecan St., Ste. 1, Pflugerville, on Oct. 24. Chef and owner Kenneth Rector Jr. first opened Rec's Catering in 2005 before expanding his business through Rec's Hushpuppie Heaven in 2013. IN THE NEWS | Pflugerville awarded platinum designation by Scenic Texas

The city of Pflugerville was named a platinum-level Scenic City Certification recipient by Scenic Texas, according to an Oct. 30 city news release. The award is given in recognition of its “regulation of parks, trails and open spaces, streetscape enhancements, sign control, unique municipal features, special programs and other programs that affect overall visual appeal of the community,” per the release. Pflugerville previously earned a gold-level designation in 2015 and is now one of 19 cities in the state with platinum-level recognition, per the release. https://sceniccitycertification.org
