'Arrested Development' and 'Ozark' star Jason Bateman serves as this week's host.
Saturday Night Live marked its return after nearly a month-long hiatus, starting the show with the recent Michigan hearings on alleged election fraud in the presidential election being the focus for its Dec. 5 cold open.
Kate McKinnon reprised her role as Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani. McKinnon’s Giuliani said she was bringing out witnesses who are "highly intelligent, barely intoxicated individuals."
Cecily Strong played key witness Melissa Carone, who has gone viral for her messy and confusing testimony. "I personally saw hundreds if not thousands of dead people vote," Strong’s Carone said. "I’m not lying. I signed an After David."
Heidi Gardner played a witness who said she ate ballots. The testimonies became increasingly bizarre, including an alien abduction story. "The defense calls Nicole Kidman's character from The Undoing," McKinnon's Giuliani said. Impression maestro Chloe Fineman emerged as Kidman.
Pete Davidson and Kyle Mooney appeared in the cold open as the men who were caught plotting to kidnap Michigan's governor.
Arrested Development and Ozark star Jason Bateman serves as this week's host. Bateman last hosted for SNL in 2005 alongside musical guest Kelly Clarkson.
This week's musical guest is country star Morgan Wallen, who had originally been slated for the second episode of the 46th season but was dropped after breaking COVID-19 safety protocols for the NBC variety sketch series. Wallen was replaced by Jack White for that episode.
