Tonight sees the women’s final at the CIB PSA Black Ball Squash Open, as the first major title of the calendar year will be won at the Black Ball Sporting Club in Cairo.

After their respective wins in the semi-finals last night, World No.1 Nour El Sherbini will take on US No.1 Amanda Sobhy for the Platinum level crown.

You can catch all the action live from Cairo on SquashTV, and the official Facebook page of the PSA World Tour (Indian sub-continent only).
You can also keep up with the live scores from the event here.

World No.1 Nour El Sherbini will aim to secure the Black Ball Open crown for the first time in her career as she takes on World No.7 Amanda Sobhy in the final, who is aiming to claim a first major title.

The pair have met 10 times prior to tonight’s clash on the PSA World Tour. The Egyptian holds the 6-4 advantage, but Sobhy was the winner in their most recent contest, which came at this very venue three months ago, as she won 3-2 in the quarter-finals of the CIB Black Ball Squash Open in December 2020.

‘Southpaw’ Sobhy came through an epic last eight battle in this week’s event en route to the final, as she downed Frenchwoman, and World No.3, Camille Serme in a five-game classic. She got the better of England’s Julianne Courtice and Egypt’s Farida Mohamed earlier in the tournament, before overcoming a strong challenger from World No.10 Salma Hany in the semis.

World No.1 Nour El Sherbini, on the other hand, has dropped just a single game throughout the entire event, winning three of her matches in straight games. She defeated World No.20 Sabrina Sobhy in the second round, before beating Belgian No.2 Tinne Gilis. The only game she dropped came in a 3-1 victory over defending champ Sarah-Jane Perry in the last eight, before a resounding 3-0 win over World No.8 Joelle King in the semi-finals.

These two are the top two on the SquashLevels Power Ratings, but El Sherbini is clear at the top following her form over the last twelve months. Sobhy’s performances this week have seen her move into the #2 spot, but the ‘Warrior Princess’ is still expected to win 3-1 according to the SquashLevels algorithm?

Can Amanda Sobhy cause an upset and secure a first major title? Or will El Sherbini list the Black Ball Open title for the first time at the third attempt?
