  • The Trailblazers have lost two straight games, most recently a 37-point loss vs. Southern Utah.
  • Of Dixie State's 11 games played, none have been decided by fewer than 14 points. The average margin of victory for either team in Dixie State's games has been 30.5 points.
  • Dixie State played just three games last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

QUICK HITS
  • The Texans have begun their season 8-3, the third time they've started 8-3 or better under head coach Misty Wilson (2018-19, 2014-15). With a win Thursday, they'll have a 9-3 or better start to the season for the 13th time in team history and third time under Wilson (2018-19, 2014-15).
  • The Texans have an active three-game winning streak, their second 3+ game run of the season.
  • Tarleton is 5-1 at home with their only loss a four-point defeat to Division I foe Western Illinois on Nov. 27. Under head coach Misty Wilson, the Texans are 74-28 (.725) at home.
  • Tarleton has the tied-third best record in the WAC, just one game back of No. 1 California Baptist.
  • The Texans and Trailblazers are playing the second WAC game of the season, with Utah Valley and Abilene Christian kicking things off at noon on Thursday.
  • In their last game, the Texans shot 50.0 percent (21-of-42). They are 2-0 this season and 15-1 over the past three seasons when shooting 50 percent or better.
  • For just the third time this season, the Texans were outrebounded in their last game 31-30, earning their first win when losing the battle of the boards. They still lead the WAC in rebounding margin at +7.5 per. The next closest team is Abilene Christian at +4.5.
  • Tarleton leads the WAC in several defensive categories, including points allowed (53.9 PPG) and FG% allowed (.330). They're second in 3PT% allowed (.248) and blocks (5.2 BPG).

WHO'S HOT
  • Seynabou Thiam – Thiam, who was the WAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week the week prior, posted seven points, seven rebounds and two blocks in the win at Incarnate Word. She's had five straight games with multiple blocks, leading the WAC in BPG (2.7) and total blocks (30).
  • Malaya Kendrick – Kendrick led the team in scoring in the last game at Incarnate Word with 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting. In four of her last six games, she's scored in double figures, and has made 23-of-46 (.500) from the field over her last five games.
  • Jurnee President – In the last game, President made 3-of-4 from distance to bump her three-point percentage on the year to .419. She's one of eight players in the WAC shooting 40 percent or better from deep. She snapped her 0-for-5 3PT cold spell over the previous three games.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
11: The Texans have been pounding teams in first halves this season, leading at halftime nine times in their 11 games. Overall, Tarleton is averaging 10.8 MORE POINTS PER FIRST HALF than opponents. For context, the Texans are averaging 0.5 more points per game in second halves.

33: Teams are having no luck getting the ball in the basket at an efficient rate against Tarleton. The Texans are forcing a 33.0 OPPOSING FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE. That would be the tied-ninth best mark in NCAA Division I, if not for Tarleton's reclassification period.

12: Through 11 games, the Texans have outscored opponents 720-593, outscoring teams by an average of 11.6 points per game. If the season ended today, it'd be their best average MARGIN OF VICTORY since 2013-14 (12.2).

42: Tarleton is averaging 41.8 REBOUNDS PER GAME, a 6.6 RPG boost from 2020-21 (35.2). The Texans are No. 2 in the WAC in both rebounds for and allowed rebounds per game (34.4 RPG), owning the best margin in the conference (+7.5). Last year they were -3.7.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will host Utah Valley on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. The Wolverines are 5-6 this season and have lost three straight games. These two teams played on back-to-back days last season in their first ever meetings, both at Wisdom Gym.
