The LPGA Q Series are two 72-hole, stroke-play events held on consecutive weeks, with scores cumulative over the two weeks as golfers try to earn their LPGA Tour card for the 2022 campaign. There will be a cut after the first week to the low 70 players and ties. There is expected to be 110 competitors opening action this week.
At Magnolia Grove for week one, the field will be equally distributed between the two courses during round one. They will then switch course and flip-flop within the wave in round two. For round three, the golfers will re-pair by score with high scores off Crossings and low scores off Falls. They will close action by switching courses and re-pairing by score within course.
Following the two weeks, golfers finishing Nos. 1-45 and ties will receive 2022 LPGA Tour status; players finishing outside the top 20 and ties will also receive 2022 Symetra Tour status. There will also be a purse of $150,000 for the event as well.
Both Carta and Kim advanced to the Q Series, after placing in the top 37 of Stage II qualifying. Kim, who is from Durham, N.C., was tied for 19th, while also claiming medalist honors with a 15-under ledger at Stage I qualifying. The three-time All-America is currently a senior on the Blue Devil squad and is expected to graduate in May of 2022.
A native of Udine, Italy, Carta was tied for 37th in stage II and tied for 19th in stage I. Carta was a part of Duke's 2019 NCAA Championship squad, while also winning the NCAA Individual title in 2016.
Duncan, a 2013 Blue Devil graduate, competed in 19 events in 2021 on the LPGA and earned $104,311 as she finished 111th on the tour money list. She notched nine top-50 finishes on the season.
On Thursday, Duncan will open play at 9:36 a.m. (ET), while Carta (10:42 a.m.) and Kim (10:53 a.m.) tee off later that morning.
Following week one, the top 70 golfers and ties will advance to week two of qualifying, which will take place Dec. 9-12 at Highland Oakes Golf Club in Dothan, Ala.
