Hopefully Round 2 of the 3M Open holds as many surprises as Round 1 when Dustin Johnson withdrew after firing 78 and Bo Van Pelt and Brendon de Jonge combined to shoot 10 under. TPC Twin Cities is an easier course than Muirfield Village, which we saw last week, and the number that leads after Round 2 will be in the double digits (maybe well in the double digits) so scoring on Friday will be abundant.
Keep an eye on two names at the top of the board. Matthew Wolff and Tony Finau were both tremendous on Thursday and both have staying power into the weekend. Wolff goes early, and Finau goes late and it would not be surprising at all to see them paired together late on Saturday afternoon, both looking for the second win of their careers. Or maybe somebody like Richy Werenski or Michael Thompson (No. 1 and No. 2 on the board after Day 1) stays at the top heading into Saturday. Either way, Friday's action in Blaine, Minnesota should be a good show.
