Fort Mill Police are looking for a pair of thieves who hooked chains to a truck and used it to rip open an ATM at First Citizens Bank on S.C. Highway 160.
Officer D.S. Barfield heard an alarm while patrolling the Kingsley area on Oct. 23. When he got to the bank, he found the upper portion of the bank’s ATM to be pulled up, exposing the internals of the machine, a police report says.
The bank’s security employee said the incident had occurred at around 4 a.m., just 10 minutes prior to the officer’s arrival. A video showed that two subjects in dark clothing exited a white 4wd truck, placed a chain onto the ATM and used the truck to force the door of the machine open, a police report says.
“Officers saw tire tracks leading from the ATM through the grass onto Munn Road,” a report says. “The security officer advised they could see a license tag showing 3531MF or 3513WF out of an unknown state.”
Those tags are not registered to a vehicle in the Carolinas or Georgia, police said.
