ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 19-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (5-0, 0-0 Big Ten) opens the Big Ten portion of its season on the road, traveling to Champaign to face Illinois (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten) on Saturday (Dec. 19) at 11 a.m. CST. The game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network, U-M's first appearance on the network this season.

• Michigan is opening its Big Ten schedule on the road for the third straight season.
• U-M is coming off a 10-8 Big Ten season in 2019-20, finishing seventh and reaching the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament for the second straight season. The Big Ten is playing a 20-game schedule for the first time as U-M will face Northwestern, Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois, Wisconsin, Purdue and Minnesota in home-and-home series. The Wolverines will host Penn State, Nebraska and Maryland, while traveling to Rutgers, Purdue and Indiana to round out their schedule.
• Juniors Naz Hillmon and Leigha Brown have each scored in double figures in all five of Michigan's games. Hillmon has scored at least 18 points in all five contests, ranking second in the Big Ten in scoring (24.8 ppg). Brown is averaging 18.0 points per game (11th in the Big Ten). The duo is the second-highest scoring pair in the conference, turning in 42.8 points per game. On top of that, the two are combining to shoot 65.0 percent (80-for-123) from the floor.
• Through five games, Michigan is averaging 87.8 points per game (18th nationally) on 52.5 percent shooting (fifth nationally). In its season opener, U-M shot 61.7 percent from the floor -- its highest since shooting 66.0 percent from the floor against Wake Forest on Dec. 1, 2010. Michigan last topped 60 percent shooting on Dec. 21, 2017, hitting on 61.4 percent of its shots against Delaware State. Michigan's 61.7-percent showing is the highest mark by the Wolverines under ninth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico. Michigan is 72-6 in nine seasons under KBA when shooting at least 50 percent from the floor.
• Illinois (2-2, 0-1 B1G) is coming off a 78-72 loss at Nebraska (Dec. 10) to start Big Ten action. The Illini have two double-figure scorers in Jada Peebles (11.8 ppg) and Jeanae Terry (11.3 ppg). Illinois is averaging 63.0 points per game on 35.3 percent shooting, while allowing 59.8 points per game on 35.1 percent shooting. Michigan has won five straight against Illinois. This is the first time the teams are playing a home-and-home series since the 2014-15 season.
• Last season, Michigan weathered an early barrage of there-pointers from Illinois to take an 80-59 win over Illinois on Feb. 19 at Crisler Center. The Illini hit their first five triples and led by as many as eight in the first quarter.
Michigan had four players score in double figures, led by 22 points from Akienreh Johnson. She also added four boards, five assists and six steals. Naz Hillmon went for her ninth double-double of the season, recording 15 points and 10 rebounds. Amy Dilk had 15 points, two boards and five assists, with Hailey Brown turning in 14 points. Michigan hit nine triples in the contest and shot an even 50 percent (26-for-52) from the floor in the game.
