HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The New Orleans women's tennis program (5-2, 4-1 SLC) dropped a close Southland Conference road affair to host Sam Houston (10-2, 5-0), 4-3, at the Kelly & Ina May McAdams Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
HOHNHOLD AND ALGUACIL CLAIM SINGLES VICTORES
- Lina Hohnhold claimed the victory out of the No. 2 spot with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 comeback win over Karla Montalvo.
- Lea Alguacil recorded a dominating performance with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep out of the sixth spot. In her last three matches, Alguacil has only conceded three games.
WIN IN DOUBLES
Mar Gendra and Ank Vullings claimed a victory in doubles with a 6-4 win out of the No. 2 spot.
WINNING STREAK SNAPPED
The loss snapped a five-match winning streak for the Privateers that dated back to March 5. Sam Houston was tied for first place with New Orleans coming into the match as both squads were 4-0 in Southland play.
NEXT UP
The women's squad remains on the road for another Southland tilt, this time against Stephen F. Austin, set for Sunday, March 21 at 11 AM CT.
