Friday afternoon was the deadline to apply for the open position on the Boise School District Board of Trustees. The board will have 13 Boise residents to choose from to fill the vacant seat, left by former Boise Fire Chief Dennis Doan.
The current list of candidates includes:

- Annie Anderson
- Brian Thomas May
- Christy Little
- Crispin Gravatt
- Dakin Fish
- Doug Holloway
- Ethan Sims
- Gina Wargo
- Julie Ouchley
- Patricia Bowen
- Trish Walker
- Troy Nickel
On April 7, trustees will meet to review the applicants and will select candidates from the pool. The board will meet again on April 12 to conduct interviews and appoint a new board member.
Doan announced during the February meeting that he would be resigning to take a new job in Washington. Doan’s resignation was accepted on March 8.
This is the second time during the 2020-2021 school year that Boise trustees will appoint a new member. In September, Troy Rohn announced his resignation from the board after criticizing the state and federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The board chose Elizabeth Langley to fill that position in November.

Elementary students in Boise will start on March 9, while secondary students will get back in classroom to start the fourth quarter.
