“If you are reading this, please help spread the word that we are able to vaccinate anyone now,” the Montgomery County Health Department posted on its website on Saturday, April 10. “We have plenty of vaccine. We just need those wishing to be vaccinated to get signed up to come to a clinic.”
The next vaccination clinic open to anyone age 18 and older will be Saturday, April 17, by appointment. Details will be posted once the registration site is available.
Those who would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and need help with online registration should call the health department at 217-532-2001 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., or email name, age, phone number, town to mchdpublichealth@gmail.com. Once your name is on the list, someone from MCHD will call you when a clinic opens for registration.
“We need and want to increase Montgomery County’s vaccinated numbers,” the health department posted. “We are still in a fight against COVID-19 even though some of our normal has returned. Vaccination is key to maintaining the ground we have gained against the virus.”
The health department reported 21 new positive cases during the week of April 4-10, up from nine the previous week, but still resulting 0.9 percent positivity. According to the Illinois Department of Public Heath, the statewide positivity rate for April 2-8 is 4.2 percent.
The last COVID-19 fatality in Montgomery County was reported on March 11, making only the third time since the pandemic began that the county has gone more than a month between coronavirus deaths. In total, there have been 2,852 cases in Montgomery County as of Saturday, April 10, and 71 deaths from the virus.
