Ortiz, 30, will be making his career debut at The Open Championship after previously playing in six majors - this year's Masters, two PGA Championships and three U.S. Opens. He posted his first PGA victory at the 2020 Houston Open held this year after last year's cancelation. He also finished T-4 at the Phoenix Open and T-8 at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Ortiz qualified for the tournament by entering the top-60 of the Official World Golf Ranking as of May 24. He's currently ranked 59th in the world and is ranked 33rd in the FedEx Cup Standings.
Munoz, 28, made his debut at The Open Championship in 2017 at Royal Birkdale Golf Club but missed the cut. This will be his seventh major and his fourth of 2021, highlighted by his T-19 finish at this year's Masters, where he finished 6-under par. Munoz notched his first PGA victory at the 2019 Sanderson Farms Championship. Munoz finished T-3 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T-9 at the Texas Open and ninth at The CJ Cup and had a nice tuneup showing at last week's John Deere Classic, where he tied for fourth after holding the 54-hole lead. He's currently ranked 77th in the world and is ranked 57th in the FedEx Cup Standings.
Television coverage will be on Golf Channel, Peacock's streaming service on Thursday and Friday before moving to Golf Channel and NBC for the weekend. Ortiz will tee off from the first hole on Thursday at 8:15 a.m., and will be paired with Brendon Todd and Matthias Schwab, while Munoz will go off from the first tee at 7:26 a.m., with Collin Morikawa and Corey Conners. In Friday's second round, Ortiz's threesome will tee off at 3:14 a.m., while Munoz's group will go off at 2:25 a.m.
