General /
FARMVILLE, Va. – Lace up your sneakers and get ready to walk, run, jog or roll with your fellow Lancers during the first-ever #LongwoodTogether Virtual 5K & Mile Race!
As part of Longwood University's Virtual Alumni Weekend festivities set for Friday through Sunday, May 29-31, the Lancer community will come together to pound the nearest pavement or treadmill in the university's first-ever virtual race. The event is free to enter for all Longwood alumni, students, faculty and staff. Lancers can also run the race in style by placing an order for the commemorative #LongwoodTogether t-shirt by May 18!
If you are feeling cooped up due to social distancing, or if you just need a reason to throw on your best Blue and White and show your Lancer pride, then this event is for you. Simply sign up on the registration page, plan your own 5K or mile course, complete your race any time from Friday, May 29, through noon on Sunday, May 31, and report your results via text message or email, or the RunSignUp.com race page.
It's easy to participate and no advanced preparation is needed, other than a good stretch and warmup on race day! Encourage your fellow Lancers to participate, follow social distancing guidelines, and post a photo of yourself with the hashtag #LongwoodTogether at the starting or finish line!
Step 1: Register yourself and any others that will be participating with you.
Step 2: Select either the Virtual 5K or Virtual Mile.
Step 3: Plan your race time during Virtual Alumni Weekend -- all entrants can select and complete a course (treadmill or a run around the neighborhood) with finishing times reported "on your honor." Be sure to stay 6-feet apart!
Step 4: Have fun racing, and visit the Longwood Virtual Alumni Weekend page to check out the other fun events and programs we have scheduled.
Most importantly, have fun and stay safe!
