With temperatures in the mid 70s, Connecticut residents have taken to state parks to enjoy the weather this Memorial Day weekend. As more parking lots reach capacity, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection have begun closing the parks to more visitors.
Southford Falls State Park, in Southbury, was the first to close on Sunday at 9:40 in the morning. A minute later, DEEP announced the closure of Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden.
A series of other parks, including C.P. Huntington State Park in Newtown, Bethel and Redding and Wadworth Falls State Park in Middletown, were also closed on Sunday. DEEP officials announce closures through the @CTStateParks Twitter account.

DEEP and Gov. Ned Lamont previously announced plans to limit parking capacity at certain state parks and to prohibit walk-in visitors who leave their vehicles outside of already filled lots to maintain social distancing.
The following state parks were closed after their parking lots were filled to capacity:
Southford Falls State Park, in Southbury, was closed at 9:40 a.m.
Sleeping Giant State Park, in Hamden, was closed at 9:41 a.m.
C.P. Huntington State Park, in Newtown, Bethel, Redding, was closed at 10:33 a.m.
Wadsworth Falls State Park, in Middletown, was closed at 11:18 a.m.
Penwood State Park, in Bloomfield, was closed at 12:11 p.m.
Talcott Mountain State Park, in Simsbury, was closed at 12:31 p.m.
Millers Pond State Park, in Haddam, was closed at 12:51 p.m.
Topsmead State Forest, in Litchfield, was closed at 1:52 p.m.
