The Historic West Theatre said this new protocol will allow them to seat just over 60 people.
“The theater seats 248 people so at 25% capacity, we could have 62 people per movie and that's okay on the average show,” Bob Boone, owner said.
Boone is still coming up with a floor plan for exactly what this will look like. For this reason, he does not plan to open up on Wednesday, but hopes to open up within the next couple weeks.
“The industry is anxious to open up again,” Boone said. “We get phone calls and emails virtually every day asking when we can come back, when can we buy gift cards.”
When the theatre does re-open, Boone said they will likely take reservations for movies on their website.
“We're going to be wearing masks and allowing more time between shows for cleaning and spreading the shows out further,” Boone said.
Other venues allowed to re-open include restaurants and churches which will be able to operate at 50% capacity and gyms which will be able to operate at 25% capacity. More information about that can be found here.
Shari Hunter of Hopkins said she was excited to get back to doing the things she loved.
“It’s really great to be able to go to an antique store and do some of the things that we love,” Hunter said. “I love the train museum, we love the aquarium and I always look forward to it getting a little warmer in Duluth.”
Clint Norris of Ramsey said that it was nice to see people out and about again and looked forward to getting back to a sense of normalcy.
“Getting together with friends, having family over, going to movies—stuff like that,” Norris said.
Businesses planning to re-open on Wednesday can find more information about doing so here.
