THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. – Coming off winning the Indiana Women's State Amateur Championship earlier this month, Duke University women's golf rising sophomore Erica Shepherd will return to the course to compete in the Michigan PGA Women's Open. The event will take place June 29 through July 1 at Crystal Mountain's Mountain Ridge Golf Course in Thompsonville, Mich.
The course will feature 78 golfers and will play at 6,082 yards at a par 72. Golfers will play 18 holes each day and the tournament will not have a cut.
Shepherd will open action Monday, June 29 at 8:20 a.m., off hole No. 1 along with Brooke Gibbons and Audrey Becker.
Shepherd, who hails from Greenwood, Ind., had a shortened freshman campaign at Duke due to the coronavirus. She saw action in all six tournaments as a rookie and notched one top 10 finish. Shepherd posted a 2-0 mark in match play at the East Lake Cup, while collecting four rounds of even or under par on the year.
She is a two-time USGA champion as she won the 2017 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship along with the 2019 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship with Blue Devil teammate Megan Furtney. Shepherd is also a two-time AJGA champion and four-time AJGA Rolex Junior All-America.
