J.C. Company officials announced June 4 that the Menomonee Falls branch, N96 W18515 County Line Road, will permanently close as part of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The store will be one of 154 stores permanently closing, USA Today reported.
It is also the only one in Wisconsin to close.
“While closing stores is always an extremely difficult decision, our store optimization strategy is vital to ensuring we emerge from both Chapter 11 and the COVID-19 pandemic as a stronger retailer with greater financial flexibility to allow us to continue serving our loyal customers for decades to come,” J.C. Penney CEO Jill Soltau said in a statement that was published in USA Today.
The Menomonee Falls store has been closed since March 18 because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to the store's website.
As of June 4, nearly 500 J.C. Penney stores had reopened, USA Today Reported.
Company officials did not report the timeline for closing for the Menomonee Falls store.
