Corporate officials say the Roseburg JCPenney’s store is still slated to close.
JCPenney’s Manager of Communications Kristen Bennett did not respond to an inquiry regarding potential negotiations with the Garden Valley Shopping Center to keep the store open. She told News Radio 1240 KQEN that “the Roseburg store remains on our list of closures”.
Bennett said the store began its liquidation sale on Wednesday and it will last between 10 and 16 weeks. A corporate press release said a team of disposition firms are overseeing those sales at 137 stores around the country.
The release said closing these stores will allow the company to focus its resources on its strongest stores and on its website: www.jcp.com. It encouraged customers to shop early to take advantage of the best selection of products as merchandise is expected to sell out very quickly.
The store is open Mondays through Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm. At risk customers can shop Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. That includes senior citizens, expectant mothers and those with underlying medical conditions.
Bennett told KQEN that an exact date for the Roseburg JCPenney’s store to close has not yet been determined.
