CHEHALIS – Community suggestions and input will provide crucial feedback for future improvements on Interstate 5 between State Route 6 and the Chamber Way interchanges in Lewis County.

Due to increased congestion on I-5 in Chehalis during peak commute times, the Washington State Department of Transportation will host an online open house in June to gather input from travelers who use this vital stretch of highway. The feedback will inform project engineers on ways to reduce congestion, improve travel reliability, safety, and travel times.

“While we’re in the early stages of the project design process, this is a great opportunity for those who use the corridor to share their thoughts,” said Colin Newell, WSDOT project engineer. “We value input from our community partners, so we’re eager to hear what they have to share to shape how we design a project.”

Virtual open house information

Information about the project is available through an online open house, beginning Thursday, June 4. Attendees will view design concepts and have the ability to provide feedback.

The virtual open house is part of the early design phase for the I-5 Chamber Way – Stage 2 project, with construction scheduled to begin in spring 2023. The estimated total cost of this project is $60.75 million, funded by the $16 billion Connecting Washington transportation package.
