FORECAST SUMMARY

What a difference compared to last weekend weather-wise! Instead of unseasonably cool 50s (and even a few 40s) in the afternoon along with overcast skies and times of rain, this time around we’re flirting with 90 degrees along with ample sunshine. Certainly, a summery feel in the air - quite literally - as humidity will climb a little too for the remainder of the weekend under mostly sunny skies. Moving into the first half of next week, temperatures will remain toasty with highs either in the upper 80s or lower 90s, but the risk for classic thunderstorms will also gradually go up as a front approaches midweek, which should break what will likely be the first heat wave of the season by or before Thursday. Temperatures for the latter half of the week will drop back closer to seasonable levels in the upper 70s to lower 80s and the humidity will probably come down some as well. There are big question marks however surrounding whether or not our front can push far enough south to put an end to the shower and thunderstorm chances and allow more sunshine to return.

DETAILED FORECAST

SUNDAY

High pressure will remain well in control across the region for the remainder of the weekend keeping our weather dry. Expect another dry day Sunday with an abundance of sunshine and just a few patchy clouds. Afternoon highs should get a degree or two warmer compared to Saturday, reaching the lower 90s with overnight lows in the middle 60s. Dew points are also expected to inch up a tad more into the 60s, so expect a slightly more uncomfortable feel to the air compared to Saturday.

MONDAY

The dial stays cranked up to start the new week as highs Monday are once again expected to reach the lower 90s. Humidity levels will also continue to rise during this period which will give a muggy and humid feel to the air. "Feels like" temperatures will likely approach the middle 90s again. Please take the proper heat precautions! Stay hydrated, seek shade, take breaks. An isolated late day storm is possible Monday, which, if caught under one will bring some brief heat relief!

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY

The dome of heat and high pressure will begin to break down a little Tuesday allowing for more clouds cover and a better chance for showers and thunderstorms. This will begin to open the door for a cold front to sweep through late Wednesday continuing the chance for unsettled weather midweek. Afternoon highs Tuesday will approach the middle 80s and Wednesday we'll make another run at 90. It'll stay very muggy, too, with dew points in the 60s and possibly lower 70s!

LATE WEEK

Behind our mid-week cold front, it will be much more pleasant and comfortable as humidity and temperatures take a nice tumble. There are some late week model disagreements just how far south our cold front will travel. It’s possible the front gets hung up across our region keeping humidity elevated along with additional shower and thunderstorm chances. Temperatures, however, would at least turn cooler compared to earlier in the week. Right now, we’ll sort of take the middle of the road approach and say Thursday remains somewhat unsettled with a few showers and thunderstorms, then Friday turns drier and sunnier with less humidity. Highs Thursday are expected to drop back into the low 80s, then upper 70s to near 80 degrees on Friday.
