How the Nuggets won the series without key players
Nick Kosmider, staff writer: The biggest danger in Game 6 for the Nuggets was falling into an early hole on the road. That had doomed them in a Game 4 blowout. Porter made sure that didn't happen by hitting six 3-pointers on the way to 22 points in the opening 12 minutes Thursday.
Yes, the Nuggets got down by as many as 14 points later in the game, but that fast start by Porter helped set a tone.
Where can the Nuggets improve next round?
Kosmider: The Nuggets will need to defend the 3-point line better in the second round if they are to make it back to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight year. They survived Lillard's historic shooting night in Game 5 — and, let's face it, no one else in these playoffs can fill it up like Dame — but they'll need to be better on the perimeter going forward.
