Beer Tree Brew is moving forward on its long-anticipated plan to develop a new taproom in downtown Binghamton.
The craft brewing company that started operations in Port Crane less than four years ago opened a restaurant and production facility at the Oakdale Mall last fall.
Beer Tree Brew on Friday confirmed that it intends to open up a location at the 20 Hawley Street complex that was built for Marine Midland bank a half-century ago.
The business plans to renovate a 4,000-square-foot space into a taproom with a large outdoor patio seating area.
The project also will include a 3,000-square-foot rooftop beer garden that will overlook the downtown area near the governmental plaza.
The Binghamton Beer Tree Brew location is scheduled to open next spring.
