MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan women's basketball team is scheduled to open Mid-American Conference play with a trip to Buffalo on Wednesday, Dec. 29.
The Chippewas, under third-year coach Heather Oesterle, are scheduled to entertain Northern Illinois in their home opener on Saturday, Jan. 1, and then welcome in rival Western Michigan on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
The 20-game MAC slate includes eight other home games: Ohio, Saturday, Jan. 15; Miami (Ohio), Wednesday, Jan. 26; Akron, Saturday, Jan. 29; Buffalo, Saturday, Feb. 5; Kent State, Wednesday, Feb. 9; Eastern Michigan, Saturday, Feb. 19; Toledo, Wednesday, Feb. 23; and Ball State, Wednesday, March 2.
CMU is slated to go to Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 8; the other road games: Toledo, Wednesday, Jan. 12; Bowling Green, Wednesday, Jan. 19; Ball State, Saturday, Jan. 22; Kent State, Wednesday, Feb. 2; Miami, Saturday, Feb. 12; Akron, Wednesday, Feb. 16; Western Michigan, Saturday, Feb. 26; Northern Illinois, Saturday, March 5.
Tipoff times will be announced later.
The Chippewas are the defending MAC Tournament champion; Bowling Green is the defending regular season champ.
The Chippewas open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at McGuirk Arena against Georgia Tech. The nonleague slate also includes a home date with Michigan (Monday, Nov. 20) as well as trips to traditional mid-major powers Marist (Nov. 28) and Green Bay (Dec. 20).
