- The Lady Toppers open the regular season after a successful preseason that saw WKU go 2-0 in exhibition matches. The Lady Toppers notched a pair of shutout wins against UT Martin and Bellarmine. Each match was won, 1-0. Sophomore Lily Rummo scored against UT Martin and fellow sophomore Annah Hopkins scored the game-winner against Bellarmine.
- WKU will be looking to continue the momentum from the spring season. The Lady Toppers clinched the Conference USA East division title and finished the season with an 8-2-2 record that included a 10-match unbeaten streak heading into the postseason.
- Ten of WKU's 11 starters from the spring are back with the squad, including the Lady Toppers' entire backline in captain Avery Jacobsen, Lyric Schmidt, Chelsea Moore and Ellie Belcher. Hopkins is the top returning scorer for WKU, notching four goals in her freshman season.
- Ten newcomers joined the WKU ranks in the offseason, including eight freshmen and two graduate transfers in defender Mackenzie Crittenberger and goalkeeper Alexis Bach.
- WKU is 13-7 all-time in season openers and 16-3-1 in home openers. The Lady Toppers have a seven-match unbeaten streak going in home openers heading into Thursday's match.

Series History
- Thursday's match will be the 10th meeting between WKU and Austin Peay all-time. The Lady Toppers currently lead the series 7-1-1.
- The two teams last met in 2017 in Clarksville, Tennessee. Austin Peay won that match, 2-1.
- WKU is 5-0-1 against the Govs in Bowling Green. The last match between the two teams in Bowling Green came in the 2016 season and the Lady Toppers won that game 2-1 in overtime.
Austin Peay Notes
- Austin Peay finished the preseason with a 1-0-1 record. The Govs earned a 4-1 win against Bethel (Tenn.) and tied Middle Tennessee 1-1 on Sunday.
- Claire Larose scored two goals for Austin Peay against Bethel and Alex Baumgardt, Isabel Petre and Lindey McMahon each notched a goal in the preseason.
- Peyton Powell, Chloe Dion and Katie Bahn all saw action in goal for the Govs in the preseason. Powell played a total of 90 minutes between the two matches and Dion played the second most minutes with 60 in-net. Powell and Dion split time in-goal last season and had a combined 1.60 goals against average.
- Rachel Bradberry is the top returning scorer for Austin Peay from last season. Bradberry notched three goals in the spring. Larose had two goals on the 10-match season.
