In its first match of the day, Drexel received two doubles wins and tallied five points in singles play. Lorie Lemongo and Renata Lombera made their Drexel debut and won their doubles match, 6-3. In singles play, Lombera fell short in the top-flight, 8-2, and Lemongo won her second-seeded match, 8-6.
Mya Fuentes and Pauline Kharkover paired up in the No. 4 doubles match and defeated their opponents, 7-6 (6). Both Dragons returned in singles play and won their matches. Fuentes played in the six-spot and defeated her opponent in a tightly contested set, 9-8 (2). Kharkover was tabbed in the No. 8 match and made quick work of her opponent, 8-1.
Tara Veluvolu added on a singles point for the Dragons in the fifth-seeded singles match, 8-5, while Aida Garcia Mendez played in the No. 7 singles match and defeated her opponent 8-2.
Drexel returned to the courts after a quick break to take on the hosts of the invitational, Villanova. The Dragons barely missed a beat through doubles play, Lombera and Cristina Corte González paired up in the top-flight and defeated their opponents, 7-6 (3). The second-seeded doubles match also fell in Drexel's favor. Fuentes and Lemongo topped their opponents, 6-2. Isabel Cabrerizo and Veluvolu partnered up and took out the competition with a 6-4 victory.
In singles play, Drexel received victories from Lemongo in the No. 2 spot and Garcia Mendez in the sixth-seeded match. Lemongo finished off her opponent with an 8-4 score, and Garcia Mendez took care of business, 8-2.
Drexel returns to Villanova to finish off the Invitational on Sunday. The Dragons will play conference rivals, Delaware, at 9:30 a.m.
