Many Baton Rouge-area restaurants are still without power and service post Hurricane Ida, but some are up and running again.

Bistro Byronz and Pizza Byronz, both in Willow Grove, were able to open Tuesday afternoon, owner Emelie Alton says. The restaurants lost power Sunday night, but regained it by early Monday. They had prepared on Friday by putting products in their freezer.

They took Monday and Tuesday to get their crew mobilized and get in touch with staff, whom she says were ready to get back to work, even though some still did not have power.

“We debated when the right time was to get up and running,” she says, “but all of the lines at places like Cane’s Monday night made it clear that people were looking for somewhere to eat and get out of their house, so we decided we would do whatever we could to get up and running today.”

SoLou, on Perkins Road, did not lose power at all, general manager Joseph Hansen says, but they had still prepared by putting products in their freezer.

In order to look out for staff, he says, the restaurant closed Monday and Tuesday. There are still some issues with staff being stuck out of town, he says, but they made accommodations and were able to open with the staff they had Tuesday.
