CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Bier Markt and Bar Cento were Sam McNulty and Mark Premier’s first two restaurants to open in Ohio City, back in 2005.
Now, the two will close their doors early in 2022 -- but not for long. The space at 1948 W. 25th St. is set to reopen as a new concept just a few months later.
The news was announced in a series of social media posts from the restaurants on Thursday, Oct. 14.
“It’s time we wish a fond farewell to our first adventure together,” the post states. “Early in the new year we will permanently close Bier Markt and Bar Cento. The GOOD news: we will be reopening after a few months of construction with a fresh, new, and exciting concept!”
Speakeasy, a bar located within the building at 1948 W. 25th, will remain open throughout the process, according to the announcement. Plus, bar and restaurant employees will maintain employment.
McNulty’s other restaurants -- Market Garden and NanoBrew -- seem to be unaffected by the change.
Celebrations are planned around Bar Cento and Bier Markt’s end.
“Right up to the moment we close our doors for the final time, we’ll be celebrating all the fun and festive times we’ve enjoyed together over these past 16 years at Bier Markt and Bar Cento,” the announcement states. “Thanks so much for being such an important part of our adventure. The magic moments and warm memories we’ve made over the years have been the best part of everything we do.”
