Is this it for the Dodgers’ hopes of repeating as champions? It’s a difficult feat for a reason, but maybe four World Series appearances in five years is too much to ask. That’s what L.A. is playing for, and what will all go away should they lose to Atlanta tonight.
Meanwhile, the Braves are desperately holding on after losing Game 5 and sending the series back across a few time zones. They couldn’t blow a 3-1 NLCS lead to the same team two years in a row — right?
Well, things look decent for Atlanta. For one, the Los Angeles pitching staff appears absolutely decimated, as the trials of a Wild Card Game and a five-game NLDS battle may have finally caught up to the boys in blue. Max Scherzer was scratched from this game, with hopes that he might be good to go tomorrow should Los Angeles even make it that far. Walker Buehler is not a bad second option by any stretch, but he’ll still be on short rest after starting Game 3.
The advantage looks to be with Atlanta. They’re at home, their staff is more rested as a whole, and they’ve lined up Ian Anderson with plenty of rest. He’s had a steady postseason so far, but didn’t do himself any favors with control issues during his Game 2 start.
Y’all want some lineups tonight? Here you go:
Chris Taylor and Eddie Rosario are the ones to watch here, with their power-hungry single-game performances boosting each of their averages over the .500 mark. Will they continue to put the team on their back? Or is it somebody else’s time to shine?
