Men's Golf to Close out Fall Season at Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate - UTRGV Athletics

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team is set to close out their fall season when they compete at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate starting on Monday at the NMSU Golf Course.
 
The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
 
NMSU Golf Course plays 7,242 yards and is a par 71.
 
The Competition
There will be a 11-team field will feature: Host New Mexico State, Air Force, Houston Baptist, Northern Colorado, Prairie View A&M, Southern Utah, Stephen F. Austin, Incarnate Word, UTRGV, Western Illinois, Western New Mexico.
 
Starting Five  
Last Time Out
UTRGV finished in 11^th at the Bentwater Intercollegiate in its third tournament of the fall season. 
 
UTRGV posted a three-round score of 904 after posting rounds of 292, 308, and 304. 
 
Freshmen Lars van der Vight and Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque both tied for 50^th with three-round scores of 228. Van der Vight posted rounds of 75, 76, and 77 while Duque turned in rounds of 71, 77, and 80. 
 
Sophomores Leonardo Novella and Sebastian Lundberg both tied for 55^th with three-round scores of 229. Novella posted rounds of 70, 89, and 70 while Lundberg carded rounds of 76, 74, and 79. 
 
Sophomore Rhaasrikanesh Kanavathi finished tied for 64^th with a three-round score of 235 with rounds of 76, 81, and 78. 
 
Last Time at Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate
The Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate was last played back during the 2019 Fall season. 
 
The Vaqueros finished the 2019 Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in fourth place with a three-round score of 867 after turning in rounds of 301, 286, and 280.
 
Tae Itthiratchai led the way with a seventh place finish after posting a three-round score of 214 with rounds of 77, 70, and 67. 
 
Euan Gill finished tied for 10^th with a three-round score of 216 after posting rounds of 76, 67, and 73. 
 
Luca Portelli finished tied for 22^nd with a three-round score of 219 with rounds of 75, 73, and 71. 
 
Alex Summers tied for 33^rd with a three-round score of 222 after carding rounds of 74, 77, and 71. 
 
Henry Fisher finished tied for 35^th with a three-round score of 223 after posting rounds of 76, 76, and 71.
