LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Polls are open for an unusual primary election in Kentucky.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. people can cast their ballots in person at a reduced number of polling locations across the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kroger Field is the only polling location in Lexington, serving as one of 170 in the Commonwealth. That number is down from 3,700 during a normal year.
If you are voting in person, there are a few things you need to remember. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be enforced while in line. People in Lexington will be able to enter Kroger Field via Gates 10 and 11 on each side of the stadium.
Election officials are confident the number of polling locations will not be a problem, since about 90% of total votes this election will come from absentee or early voting.
One symptom of the voting process this year is not knowing results right away. We may get some data throughout the week, but final results will not be announced until June 30.
