The Spiders first practice is set for August 6 with a 3 p.m. start at Robins Stadium. All practices will be open to the public during the preseason. Additionally, the two scheduled scrimmages August 14 and August 22 are also open to the public.
The University of Richmond is currently in Lime Stage in the COVID-19 protocols and fans are asked to maintain physical distance when possible. Additionally, fully vaccinated people are not required to wear a mask on campus in most situations but people who are not fully vaccinated will continue to be required to wear a mask in most settings.
In addition to the live action of the field, fans will have access to unmatched coverage of the program from behind the scenes throughout fall practice. Daily content will be available on the social media for the Spider football program on Twitter (@Spiders_FB) and Instagram (@SpiderFootball).
Video and written features will be available on RichmondSpiders.com along with the return of the Spider Insight podcast that provides exclusive interviews and content from practice from the voice of the Spiders Bob Black and Assistant Athletic Director Matt McCollester. The Spider Insight Podcast will debut August 18 and run weekly throughout the season.
Richmond, which posted a 3-1 record in the shortened spring season, finished the year ranked No. 14 nationally. The Spiders return all 22 starters on offense and defense from the spring, including every offensive line snap from the four-game season. Richmond was picked to finish fourth overall in the CAA preseason poll and had six different Spiders earn preseason All-Conference honors.
Richmond opens the 2021 fall season with two-straight home games, beginning Sept. 4 hosting Howard. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m. at Robins Stadium.
