Last Time Out
The Blue Raiders produced their best game of the season on Sunday, earning an impressive 2-1 victory over the reigning SEC tournament champion Vanderbilt Commodores. The win was also Middle Tennessee's first-ever victory against the Commodores and the team's first win against a Power 5/SEC opponent since Sept. 13, 2013, which saw the Blue Raiders defeat the Tennessee Volunteers 1-0.

The opening half was a 45-minute defensive battle as the two teams traded possession and shots until eventually heading to the locker room in a scoreless stalemate.

The Commodores didn't waste much time as they opened up the scoring in the 49th minute as Rachel Deresky netted a ball with her heel to put Vanderbilt on top 1-0.

Down by one, the Blue Raiders never lost their fight as Mia Roberts returned a pass to DePriest, who powered the ball through the Commodores' keepers legs to tie up the match in the 68th minute.

In the 87th minute and needing a score to break the tie, Hamlett collected a ball in stride from DeBien, before crossing it to the opposite post to find DePriest for the go-ahead header and eventual Blue Raider game-winner.

The Commodores continued to battle over the final three minutes of play, putting one final shot on goal, in which Suder was caught out of goal, but junior defender Caroline Manley had stepped in to help defend the net and made an incredible game-saving block to seal the Blue Raiders 2-1 victory over the Commodores.

Series History
Thursday's contest will be the 24th meeting between the Blue Raiders and the FIU Panthers. All time, the Blue Raiders have outscored the Panthers by 17 goals throughout their 23-game history. Middle Tennessee is currently on a four-game winning streak and has won eight of the last 10 contests between the two programs. In their last meeting, the Blue Raiders earned a dominant 3-0 shutout over the Panthers on the road in Miami on March 26, 2021. DePriest scored the game-winning goal in the second minute of the contest.
