The men who launched a fast-growing Broome County craft brewing business are turning their sights toward another popular beverage.

Brendan Harder and Chris Rhoades are preparing to open a coffee shop and driving range in Chenango Bridge. They opened Beer Tree Brew Co. in Port Crane in 2017.

The partners acquired the property at 70 Chenango Bridge Road in August for $399,000.

Harder said the shop will include a coffee roasting facility. He said the existing building will be gutted and renovated. He said the shop will have indoor and outdoor seating. A patio similar to the one at the Port Crane Beer Tree location is to be constructed.

Harder said the partners have been working with the owner of Laveggio Roasteria in downtown Binghamton as they prepare for their new business.

Harder said they plan to call the operation Batch Coffee & Creamery. An addition will be built to expand the existing building. The shop will have drive-thru service.

An area once occupied by a miniature golf course will be used for parking. A small structure called "The Crab Shack" will be moved and used for storage at the driving range, which will be reopened.

Construction work at the site could start in a few weeks. Harder hopes the business will open in the spring.

R-Tee Golf Complex, Chenango Fitness and Ginny's Unique Boutique previously have operated at the site.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
