Volleyball to close season at Albany, UNH - Binghamton University Athletics

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team will close the 2021 season with two road matches this weekend. The Bearcats will face Albany Friday before taking the trip up to Durham Saturday to take on New Hampshire.

Binghamton Notes

  • The Bearcats are coming off a 3-0 loss to Hartford on the road last weekend, before Saturday's match with UNH was postponed.

  • Seniors Emily Rail and Kiara Adams led the team with 13 and 11 digs respectively. Rail sits at fifth in the conference with 3.68 digs per set.

  • Anna Sprys continues to lead BU defensively, adding another seven blocks to her season total last Friday. She has registered at least one block in every match played this season.

  • Binghamton won a five-set thriller the last time they played Albany, while the team lost three tight sets to UNH at home in its last matchup with the Wildcats.
     

A look at Albany

  • The Great Danes defeated Stony Brook for the second time this season last Friday before falling to UMBC in four sets Sunday. 

  • Freshman Oren Abutbul leads the Great Danes offense with 265 kills and 2.68 kills per set.

  • Junior Malea Stanton leads the team with 635 assists and 6.41 assists per set. Stanton is also second on the team with 20 service aces and 198 digs.

  • Senior Charlotte Macken leads the team with 33 service aces, 407 digs, and 4.07 digs per set. 

  • Freshman Lilou Stegeman leads defensively with 83 total blocks.

A look at New Hampshire

  • New Hampshire sits at 6-4 in the America East, good enough for fourth place.

  • The Wildcats are led by Abby Sullivan, who has 196 kills and a .344 hitting percentage on the year.

  • Wren Macaulay is second in the conference in assists with 811.

  • Three Wildcats have over 60 blocks on the season, with Kelly Kaufmann's 71 leading the way.
