Burkes Outlet, Mountain Home's newest retailer, has officially opened its doors in the building formerly occupied by Stage.
The Mountain Home Burkes Outlet is located at 1060 Hometown Commons and is actually a combination of two retailers — Burkes Outlet and Home Centric. Both retail brands are owned by Bealls Inc. of Bradenton, Fla.
Both retailers offer well-known, name-brand lines of goods at up to 70 percent off of department store prices. Merchandise like apparel, shoes, toys and more can be found on the Burkes Outlet side, and items like home decorations and furniture are available on the Home Centric side.
Mayra Gama, the store manager for Mountain Home's Burkes Outlet, said that the Mountain Home store's "side-by-side" setup is only the 37th such setup in the Bealls Inc. family.
The Mountain Home Burkes Outlet had a soft opening Monday and held an official grand opening Thursday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by members of the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce.
"The week has been amazing," Gama said, noting that revenue had increased each day since the soft opening. "Everybody is super-excited about the store."
The Mountain Home Burkes Outlet has 28 employees. Five of those employees are management while the other 23 are associates.
The storefront housing Burkes Outlet was previously home to a Stage Store. That business closed its doors more than two years ago amid plans to rebrand the location as a Gordmans department store. That transition never came about due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Stage's parent company filing for bankruptcy.
People asking on social media about what store would eventually take up residence in the vacated Stage building was a common sight on social media over the past year until Bealls Inc. announced that a Burkes Outlet would take up residence in that location.
Gama said the store was already looking forward to Black Friday, which is a week away.
"I think it's going to be an amazing thing for the guests here and the whole community," Gama said. "We'll have lots of deals on Black Friday, from technology to furniture. Expect lots of deals."
