FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IUPUI volleyball team will close out its 2021 campaign on Friday night (Nov. 12) when the Jaguars take on Purdue Fort Wayne at 7:00 p.m. inside Gates Sports Center on ESPN+. The Jaguars have been playing much better at the close of the season, earning back-to-back 3-1 wins over Youngstown State and Robert Morris before then taking a set off of two of the league's top two teams, Northern Kentucky and Wright State last weekend.

The Jags (5-23, 3-14 HL) head into Friday's match looking for a season sweep of the Mastodons.

Head coach Lindsey Froehlich's young squad has slowly come of age over the course of the season, keyed by one of the league's most promising rookies in Briana Brown. Brown, who was named #HLVB Player of the Week two weeks ago, continues to lead the Jaguars in kills per set (3.21), points per set (3.51) and total kills (331). Her 1,069 attack attempts are more than double the Jaguars' second most dependable attacker in Maddie Haines. Haines is putting down 1.99 kills per set and Allie Pogue, who has 379 attempts on the year, averages 2.06 kills per set. Sophomore middle Emily Alan has also been dependable in the attack with 184 kills, while hitting .202 for the season. As a team, IUPUI is hitting just .125 and allowing opponents to hit .235 for the year.

Sophomore Brooke Phillips has been a steady pilot for the offense with 8.38 assists per set while Darragh Dixon has moved into a more versatile role as the team's No. 2 setter. Both Phillips and Rhiannon Schuenemann have a team-high 35 aces.

Schuenenmann, who will close her career ranked among the program's top-10 all-time in digs, matches played and sets played, is tops on the team with 3.38 digs per set. Freshman Addie Evans, who missed time recently due to injury, is next in line at 2.82. Millai Madison (84.0) and Alan (78.0) headline the middle blockers, accounting for the majority of the team's blocks.

SCOUTING PURDUE FORT WAYNE (7-23, 5-12 HL)
Purdue Fort Wayne is 7-23 overall and 5-12 in Horizon League play, having dropped three straight heading into Friday's contest. Katie Crowe leads the PFW attack at 3.38 kills per set and has a team-high 441 points scored. Madelyn Wurster averages 2.49 kills/set and Maggie Castleman chips in with 2.35. Madison Gates is the team's primary setter with 6.94 assists per set and the defense is keyed by Rachael Crucis' 3.73 digs per set. Ramei Jackson has a team-high 83.0 blocks and Molly Mirabelli has 78.0. Collectively, PFW is hitting .201 on the season and allowing opponents to hit .245. The Mastodons are 2-10 on their home floor this season.
