KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — Chau Haus Schnitzel Station announced in a Facebook post this weekend that its last day of business will be Saturday, Nov. 20.
The Oshtemo Township restaurant, located a couple miles west of Kalamazoo at 7000 Stadium Dr., will be open from 3-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday during its final week of business.

The post did not cite a reason for the closure.
“It has been a difficult decision and Frankie (Heynig) and the team will cherish the many, many wonderful patrons, fun open mic and fireside/patio music nights and great friendships made over these past 5 years,” the post states. “Thank you very much for your support. We hope to see you this week.
“Remember, it’s not farewell, but see you later.”
Owner Frankie Heynig was operating the business — known for its schnitzel, hand-rolled perogies, currywurst, potato pancakes and German chocolate cake — out of its fourth location in five years. Heynig initially opened Chau Haus next door to the Kalamazoo State Theatre in the city’s downtown area in 2016.
After a little more than a year on the Kalamazoo Mall doing high-volume business, Heynig told MLive previously he made the decision to move the Chau Haus Schnitzel Station into a larger space on Michigan Avenue. Shortly thereafter; however, he was derailed amid seemingly endless construction and roadblocks that, some days, prevented guests from even making it to his front door.
After a brief stop in Schoolcraft, Heynig told MLive in April he believed he had found the German restaurant’s permanent home in Oshtemo Township.
Attempts to reach Heynig for comment Monday were unsuccessful.
